Lake Chippewa is a 17,000+ acre lake located in Sawyer County. It has a maximum depth of 92 feet. Fish include Musky, Panfish, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike, Walleye, Sturgeon and Catfish. The lake’s water clarity is low. The water was formed by a dam holding back the flow of two Chippewa River branches. The reservoir encompasses 10 former lake beds and a lot of land in between. It’s the lake from which the world record Muskie of 69 pounds, 11 ounces was taken.
